We invite you to honor the life and legacy of Elaine Francis by supporting the Elaine Francis Memorial Fund for Junior Scholarships.
Elaine dedicated much of her life to the sport of tennis in Alabama. She began as a passionate volunteer, organizing junior tournaments and serving on the junior ranking committee for nearly a decade. In 1983, she began her full-time career as Co-Executive Director alongside Susan Briggs, and in 1994, Elaine became Executive Director of USTA Alabama—a role she held with distinction until her semi-retirement in 2016. She continued to serve part-time until fully retiring in 2020.
Elaine’s extraordinary contributions were recognized in 2017 when she was inducted into the Alabama Tennis Foundation Hall of Fame. Her legacy also lives on through the Elaine Francis Junior Excellence Award, presented annually to juniors who exemplify the sportsmanship and character she so deeply valued.
Elaine’s unwavering dedication, vision, and compassion shaped the growth of tennis across Alabama and touched the lives of countless players, families, and colleagues.
By contributing to the Elaine Francis Memorial Fund for junior scholarships, you help continue the work she so passionately believed in—supporting junior tennis and nurturing the next generation of players.
